About the Harvard University Academy Scholars Program

Fellowship Duration
Each year, approximately five to six scholars are selected for two-year in-residence appointments.
Important conditions include:
- The fellowship must begin no later than the fall immediately following the award.
- Deferral of the first year is not permitted.
- Scholars may request a one-time leave of up to 12 months between Years 1 and 2 only to accept or continue a tenure-track academic appointment.
- Fellows may not accept additional research funding or employment obligations during the fellowship period.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the Harvard University Academy Scholars Program 2027, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
- Be a recipient of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree received within two years of the fellowship start date.
- Advanced doctoral candidates nearing completion of their dissertation may also apply.
