If your organization has a creative idea that can strengthen trust, dialogue, and cooperation within communities across the Western Balkans, the European Fund for the Balkans (EFB) is inviting applications for the Common Ground Program (CGP) Opportunity & Innovation Grants 2026.

The funding opportunity is designed to help civil society organizations and grassroots initiatives pilot fresh ideas, seize emerging opportunities, and develop innovative approaches that promote peace, social cohesion, and community engagement. Rather than financing routine organizational activities, these grants focus on testing practical solutions capable of creating long-term positive change. 

About the Opportunity & Innovation Grants

The Opportunity & Innovation Grants are part of the Common Ground Program (CGP)—a regional initiative established by the European Fund for the Balkans to support organizations working to bridge social, political, and ethnic divides across the Western Balkans.

The grants are intended for organizations that want to:

• Pilot innovative community initiatives.
• Test new dialogue or peacebuilding approaches.
• Respond quickly to emerging local opportunities.
• Explore new methodologies, topics, or engagement formats.
• Strengthen trust and cooperation between communities.

The program encourages experimentation and supports projects with the potential to generate lasting impact beyond the grant period. 

Grant Value

Successful applicants can receive:

• Up to €4,500 in funding.
• Approximately 20 grants are expected to be awarded during the 2026 funding cycle.

• Croatia

• Serbia
